March 21st, approx. 3 p.m.: I was strolling down Duval Street in Key West, FL on spring break when my roommate-turned-bff Kaylee (DCP 2017) texted me that someone had gotten accepted for the Summer Alumni program in Walt Disney World and I needed to check my email IMMEDIATELY. All of the applicants were pretty much on edge because we knew California acceptances were already done and we were last on the offer checklist.  But lo and behold, there was everyone's favorite bright purple banner and a bolded Congratulations!  And guess what, y'all? Ya girl got attractions AGAIN! I'm so excited and hopeful that I got one of my top picks! Cross your fingers for me! Talk soon, have a magical day!

Summer Alumni 2018 Application Process

Image
Hey, y'all! Exciting things are happening... I'm in the last stage of application for the Disney Summer Alumni Program!  The dates for the program are 5/21/18 to 8/4/18. I applied the day applications opened, January 29th! I selected Walt Disney World in Orlando, and put high interest in attractions and lifeguard, moderate interest in merchandise, and no interest in everything else. The roles offered were seater, quick service food and beverage, attractions, lifeguard, custodial, merchandise, housekeeping, houser-person, and bell services.  I completed my web-based interview and scheduled my phone interview the same day!  My phone interview was on Friday 2/2 and lasted about 25 minutes.  Here are some of the questions I was asked during my phone interview. I've never seen a list for alumni interviews and I feel like this could be helpful for the future! Note that some are more attractions related because that's where I worked and what I expressed the mo...

Summer Alumni 2018!

Image
It was recently announced on the Disney Alumni Association Facebook page that they will be releasing information for Summer Alumni Program 2018 applications in a few weeks! I've applied to a summer program once before, but I ended up in a large group of people that weren't even considered because the spots filled up so quickly. As long as the dates don't conflict with my school schedule, I'm 100% going to apply! And I somehow convinced one of my roommates from my first program to apply with me so stay tuned, this should be fun.

Housing: Disney College Program

Image
Hey y'all! Today I'm just going to briefly talk about my experience living in Disney Housing! Over the course of my two programs, I lived in Chatham Square, Vista Way, and Patterson Court. I won't talk about The Commons because I didn't live there, and I won't go too in depth,  I'm just giving you my overall HONEST thoughts on each housing complex that I lived in!

Top 9 Best Tips: Disney College Program

1. Make a bucket list. I didn't do this the first time because I thought I had a good idea of what I wanted to do, and then was smacking myself in the face on the flight home because of all the things I forgot to do. 2. Take classes. If you can get into a Disney class, I 1000% recommend taking one! My first program, I was waitlisted for a class and then closed out. But on my second program, I got into the second session of the Environmentality and Sustainability class and I loved it! Some of our classes were in a classroom, but others were in the parks! We even got to go on the Behind the Seeds backstage tour of Living with the Land (that's an add-on you usually have to pay for). We also had speakers come in from all lines of business including animal programs, resort management, and the company conservation department to talk to us and we always got to go and network with them at the end of class, so if you're looking for a way to network, this is a great o...

Viva Gaia everyone! My name is Jessie and I'd like to welcome you to...this blog! This was supposed to be a companion blog for my Youtube channel if I ever get that running again. :) A little about me: I'm 22 and from Long Island, NY studying biological sciences at University at Buffalo! I completed my first Disney College Program in Walt Disney World in 2015 where I worked in Festival of the Lion King, Dinosaur the Ride and The Boneyard, and I lived in Chatham Square! I just got back from my second program Spring 2017 where I lived in Vista Way AND Patterson Court and worked in Discovery Island attractions! I guess Animal Kingdom just loves me because I can't get away. After spending so much time working for the mouse, changing my major and transferring colleges (twice), I was set back a little bit in school so I'm finishing up and then hopefully I'll be doing a Professional Internship in Animal Programs (preferably in The Seas, but DAK is my second ...
