Summer Alumni 2018 Application Process
The dates for the program are 5/21/18 to 8/4/18. I applied the day applications opened, January 29th! I selected Walt Disney World in Orlando, and put high interest in attractions and lifeguard, moderate interest in merchandise, and no interest in everything else. The roles offered were seater, quick service food and beverage, attractions, lifeguard, custodial, merchandise, housekeeping, houser-person, and bell services. I completed my web-based interview and scheduled my phone interview the same day!
My phone interview was on Friday 2/2 and lasted about 25 minutes.
Here are some of the questions I was asked during my phone interview. I've never seen a list for alumni interviews and I feel like this could be helpful for the future! Note that some are more attractions related because that's where I worked and what I expressed the most interest in:
What housing complex did you live in and how many roommates did you have? Can you name a conflict that arose and discuss how you dealt with it?
Why do you want to do another Disney College Program?
What would you do differently during this program than on your previous program?
How did you like working at [your location]?
Can you talk about a very busy day at work and how did you handle it?
Can you talk about a time when you dealt with an upset guest and how did you handle it?
Talk about how you put safety first in your job.
What would you do if a guest did not meet the height requirement for your attraction?
What would you say to guests if your attraction has broken down?
For the lifeguard role, the recruiter just asked me if I'm a strong swimmer and then she did not ask me about merchandise because I have so much experience on my application it kind of speaks for itself. Plus, she asked if attractions is "really where my heart is" and that she could hear it in my voice. She also asked me what locations I'd like in particular and before I could answer, she said I'd make an amazing safari driver which is my dream role! I told her I'd love to go back to the Harambe Theater or even be a skipper on the Jungle Cruise. Now only time will tell!
